My partner during our test drive today: "Does this have a DVD player?"
We don't have any kids, and he makes fun of me for collecting blurays
We got it though, will be picking it up on Monday. It's a pretty big milestone for us, and it's his dream vehicle.
Will post pics on Monday 🥳

Never understood DVD players (and YouTube, and Netflix) in cars. It's not like you're going to watch movies while driving. It might be somewhat useful for passengers on long uneventful road trips, but those are kinda rare, aren't they?

@grishka right? We don’t have any kids and if we did, it’s more easier to attach an iPad to the headrests rather than pay for screens that will be outdated in a few years lol

dansup, yeah and that screen is usually in the front near the dashboard anyway and kids would usually be on the back seat so it would be awkward. Oh and at least I myself as a kid always got severe motion sickness if I tried to read or watch anything in a moving vehicle. It somehow went away as I grew up.

@grishka yeah, I think my partner meant the screens that used to flip down in the back seats though, or the ones built into the head rests of the front seats.
We can easily just mount an iPad anywhere, it has built-in wifi but we'll prob just tether our phones as we have unlimited data and don't need another plan.
You can start and lock/unlock it via an app, and that makes me nervous, not to mention my insurance company offering lower rates to track us via an app

@grishka I remember my parents old Dodge Caravan, my brothers and I would pretend the seatbelts were guns and see who could "shoot" the most "monsters" (aka vehicles) lol.
Now kids have internet and video access, road trips used to be dreaded and now internet is everywhere, I kinda miss those "boring" road trips.

dansup, idk if I'd ever buy a car (I don't need one right now, I live in the middle of a large city and can get to most places on the subway) I'd make sure to pick one that has no network interfaces in it. Although it feels harder and harder to do as the time goes on, same way as non-smart TVs basically aren't made any more unless you count commercial-grade digital signage displays

@grishka yeah I get that, we only bought this because my partners vehicle is old and breaking down, no point in putting more money in it.
I still have my 2016 Mazda 3*, but dang does it feel amazing to buy my partners dream vehicle for him and see him so happy.
I have amazing credit and got the best rate, and the whole process took less than 3 hours. I got my #hemi (last year they making them btw). We both won tbh.
Can't wait to post some Loops with it
