Sure, but aren't there ways to do this already, outside of the fediverse? Do we need the fediverse to do everything? I feel that as soon as money is involved, things start to be exploited by companies and will quickly degenerate into enshittification world -

I was a fan of the past attempts to let people directly give a little bit for what others have created too, such as Peter Sunde's Flattr. It's not like the fediverse runs for free either, I see lots of instances who are asking users to cover their bills so if you think there isn't any money involved now you must be deliberately ignoring that.

@pixelfed direct monetization is something that as an artist I've tried to set up on Pixelfed before, and a working system would be a big deal. Thanks for trying to work on it
My question is unfortunately the same that it has to be for every payment system - will NSFW artists and creators be able to participate, or will we be locked out like we usually are from these things?
