I think Lemmy, Mbin and Piefed will soon see an influx of new users.

Reddit is going to use Sam Altmans sketchy iris-scanning "Orb" to verify users.
What in the Black Mirror is this shit?

@dansup Unfortunately, Lemmy/Mbin/Piefed don't have enough userbase to create some communities on them. No r/latinlanguage, no r/afterlife...
Besides, their content is more US-centric than Reddit, which is too US-centric as well but less noticeable.
And let's not forget that Lemmy admins and developers are tankies.

@dansup Wait... Iris? Sorry I'm blind so it could be impossible for me to log in with my eyes. Fuck companies that doesn't care for accessibility!

@icg937 Reddit was filled with multiple sock puppet accounts created by the admins, that's how they grew initially.
If you build it, they will come.
Especially if you built it with their best interests in mind.
It's not my place to comment on the Lemmy devs as a fellow dev (I'm obvi biased), but there are other alternatives like Mbin and Piefed too!

@dansup Just wait until that information gets hacked. You can always change your password, your irises, not so much.
