@dansup Bizarre response. The OG post comes across like you're annoyed that people are happy to donate to folks asking for mutual aid via Paypal links (often the most accessible way people have of receiving money), because it doesn't meet your standards of what "ethical" payment is supposed to look like. People are using paypal links in mutual aid posts to survive.

@dansup If you're really sorry about these posts you end up deleting minutes or hours later, perhaps you should implement some kind of system where you count to 30 or something before you post them, or draft them and read them back an hour later before you post them, or run them by someone else first. If you just delete heinous posts to clean up your profile, rather than addressing whatever lead you to make them in the first place, it doesn't really do much, imo, and it comes across as avoiding accountability rather than genuine contrition.

wrote last edited by [email protected]If you thought this post was dunking on #mutualAid posts, you missed the point, I've made some myself and totally respect them, but its the underlying payment platforms and control we need to take from #BigTech and give back to the people.
https://webmonetization.org is the way we can do this.

wrote last edited by [email protected]@dansup I think it was totally unnecessary to target mutual aid posts, when many people, artists, businesses also make these posts asking for sales with those same tools but go unmentioned. It was your specific singling out and disparaging mutual aid posters (the most vulnerable) that is problematic and again, completely unnecessary to make your point. I think YOU are missing the point of the complaints.

wrote last edited by [email protected]@dansup everyone i know who uses paypal (per your example) knows it's awful but rarely have alternative options because payment processors keep scaling back on what they allow. idk why tf you would expect people struggling in poverty or under the forces of fascism or genocide to know about some niche tech thing that they more than likely wouldnt be able to implement. why dont you spend your energy making that web monetization stuff accessible instead?
