NGL, I'd be disappointed as well if someone invited me for coffee, tea etc. and then we'd just be talking without any drinks.

I this case it is a wordplay on the fact that young people these days call gossip "tea".

I feel old. Never heard of gossip being referred to as tea.

It's a relatively old term in the south that is now being used in the mainstream.

If your aunt told you she had tea for you, you were at rapt attention, cuz there was about to be some good fuckin shit.

I dreamt of trying to leave a building after work and ending up at a tea shop in the fourth floor and being mistaken for a woman named Dunja who was supposed to deliver new tea. I apologised and told them I was just passing through, on my way home. So I went out the back door, but that wasn't the way out. So I came back, asked them for the way out and they indicated it would be the same way I came in. A group of people was trying to get out as well, so I followed them. But they ended up taking the wrong door, so they went back to the tea shop to take the right door.

When I arrived at the tea shop a third time I introduced myself as Dunja and said I'd like to drink some tea. They told me to take a seat next to the panda, that should be good for me. I said it would be perfect and fitting and woke up.

Would being served a beverage at your aunt's not also be a given, though?

Whenever I see 'tea' in this context, I imagine upper class women at their afternoon parties talking shit about women who are not there.

Oh, men gossip too but for them it would be 'smoke'.

Yes, I am probably influenced by Mad Men.
