What an amazing year for Pixelfed and our other projects like https://loops.video and https://fedidb.com

I started this year as the solo dev, and now we have a team of designers, developers and project managers.

June will bring a fresh new experience to Pixelfed, a stable/self-hostable and newly federated Loops and early access to Sup for our Kickstarter backers.

The new @PixelFed web redesign is evolving daily, and will be ready for a public beta next month

Admins will be able to run it (during the beta) on a subdomain by enabling an env variable.

@bh Is it in HTML format? I will look into supporting that.

@bh a zip is what you upload for the import, you need to request the export in JSON format

It's a huge improvement, here are some highlights:

@dreddie this is the default layout mode, there is a full screen "pro" mode that puts media first and hides the rest behind icons, menus or hovers.

The new UI will feature several modes and layouts (masonry, grid, feed list, gallery, album or fluid) and themes, allowing you to customize your experience as you want while defaulting to a simple and familiar layout for the rest of us.

There was a network issue that was due to the backend returning a 500 error, but notice how it gracefully handled that?

You may not even noticed, but yeah, its a much better experience and handles network conditions and offline support more intelligently.
