@dansup Not to be rude, but aren’t you all picking up way to many side quests here? First there was fedidb, then fediwatch, and now this. Pixelfed is a super cool app, but it still needs active work done. Plus, a lot of these are form over function. Are you making sure all your websites load well on old hardware? How about accessibility? The Pixelfed iOS app still has many unlabeled icons that make screen reader use very difficult.
Just please make sure y’all are maintaining your focus!
@pixelfed @elena This website feels a little too form-over-function; all the animated background bits would probably load super slowly, if at all, in less capable hardware.
Also, how many non-Pixelfed web apps are being rolled out? With fedidb, fediwatch, and now this, it feels like you all are spreading yourselves way too thin.
@pixelfed The iOS app is still pretty screen reader inaccessible - interactions with posts aren’t labeled correctly:
- Liking is “unpronounceable”
- Commenting is “chat”
- Boosting is “refresh”
- Saving is “bookmark”
I would highly encourage trying to use the app with a screen reader before your next update!

@dansup Very nice! Is the in-caption tagging replacing the previous “tag people” feature? And will the new backend support federating posts with 4+ images to instances that can only show 4 images? I’ve always thought that some sort of “pick your faves” option would be nice, so that I could see all PixelFed posts on Mastodon, even if in an abridged way! Or maybe just default to the first 4.
