I did a few benchmarks to see if the #Linux desktop environment you're running on your system has any impact on the actual performance, and resource consumption of your system, and made a little video out of it!

I used Top, Geekbench, Unigine Heaven, and did some battery life testing, all on #Fedora 42 beta, on the @slimbook Evo 14, here are the results, and the conclusions:

@GoemonIshikawa it’s an OBS issue, usually, I record audio with Audacity, but this time it messed up for some reason, so I had to use OBS’s audio, and it’s OBS, so… it’s bad.

@Ben Yeah, I didn’t remember why I stopped posting on any social network apart from publishing videos. I remember now.
No matter if it’s Twitter or Mastodon, people don’t read what you wrote, they try really hard to read between the lines, and twist the meaning of every word you use to fit their world view, or the first emotion they felt when reading your words. That’ll teach me, I’m not posting here anymore for a while.

@xerophile And what I’m saying is: you can focus both on the terrible name, and on the good feature. But that’s what I wrote, not what you read between the lines, so I guess it doesn’t matter ?

@alphy I haven’t tried it (always wary of government led software) but I’ll give it a shot, at least to see where it stands features wise!

I'm saying it's 7 years of work being published. Fixes for what people have been complaining is missing for more adoption. And the only reaction I'm seeing is '"they're bad at marketing and the name is still terrible".

Yes, these are real issues. but if I were a GIMP dev, I'd seriously reconsider working on the program right now, based on the incredibly negative feedback.

@vkc @dayvehuse Yeah, it’s an extremely insulting and demeaning word. I’m very surprised YouTube doesn’t automatically remove comments including it, they really should block that

Doesn’t mean it’s a clever name, and I’d definitely prefer to see it changed (I even moved to Glimpse when it was started a few years back, before they stopped it)
